A tradition of Farming

A personal promotion of my business and a insight into work we do on the farm in Skelmorlie and surrounding area

About the Farm

Since I was 4 years old I have been involved with work on the family farm. I studied at Largs Academy. Things progressed and I decided to study Physics at Strathclyde university for which I was awarded an honours degree. Since leaving university, I have worked on the family farm among other things.

Together my father and I run 750 head of sheep and 64 head of cattle. There's nothing I'm more proud of than the stock we have on the farm.

My father has worked full-time on the farm since 2006. Our general duties are sorting, feeding and bedding livestock, herding sheep.

Occasional duties include administering medicine, lambing (4 weeks), sowing fertiliser, calving ~6 weeks, spreading slurry, shearing, carting bales, spreading manure, weaning lambs and best of all fixing field drains.
